The Dead Zone is the first story by King to feature the fictional town of Castle Rock, which serves as the setting for several later stories and is referenced in others. The book was nominated for the Locus Award in 1980 and was dedicated to King's son Owen. Though earlier King books were successful, The Dead Zone was the first of his novels to rank among the ten best-selling novels of the year in the United States. When some information is blocked from his perception, Johnny refers to that information as being trapped in the part of his brain that is permanently damaged, "the dead zone." The novel also follows a serial killer in Castle Rock, and the life of rising politician Greg Stillson, both of whom are evils Johnny must eventually face. The story follows Johnny Smith, who awakens from a coma of nearly five years and, apparently as a result of brain damage, now experiences clairvoyant and precognitive visions triggered by touch.

This show is definitely one to watch. The Dead Zone is a science fiction thriller novel by Stephen King published in 1979. Adams) is someone he can share all his secrets with and their conversation is also where some of the quality humor of the show comes through. Gene Purdy (David Ogden Stiers) as the man in charge of Johnny's inheritance is also an interesting study in suspense because the viewer can't tell if he is an imperfect man trying to do good, or someone with malicious intent. So watching as Johnny and the sheriff become friends is very interesting. However, during that coma she married the local sheriff (Chris Bruno). Sarah (Nicole de Boer) and Johnny were engaged before his car accident turned 6 year coma. This leads to the compelling stories that aren't about his visions. And that they can help him thwart the events that would otherwise lead to deaths or disaster if they trust each other and work together. In this case they all know that Johnny (Anthony Michael Hall) has real visions not crazy visions or psychic hotline visions, but real visions. Those are the kind of characters I can enjoy watching.

This is one of those shows where the main characters are driven to put aside the problems they have with each other because they know that there are more important things.
